Associate Attorney
Michael Yates joined Hammers Law Firm as an associate attorney March 2025. Prior to that, he practiced at one of Atlanta’s leading insurance defense firms for three years. There, he represented individuals, local businesses, trucking and logistics companies, and insurance carriers in the defense of personal injury claims.
Michael worked every aspect of the claims process, handling pre-suit settlement demands and evaluations, drafting and arguing motions before the court, taking and defending depositions, and seeing cases through resolution. He now views these past experiences as an advantage that sets him apart from most personal injury attorneys, allowing Michael to better prosecute cases on behalf of injured victims.
Michael is a graduate of Auburn University and Charleston School of Law. After earning his J.D., he worked for Georgia Legal Services Program, which offers legal services to low-income Georgians who reside outside metro Atlanta. At their Brunswick, GA office, Michael gained valuable trial experience, handling a wide variety of cases including landlord-tenant, domestic violence related matters, and wills.
Michael’s practice now focuses on personal injury matters involving automobile liability, trucking liability, and premises liability. He and his wife, Anna, both grew up in metro-Atlanta, and they have one daughter together. He is a crazed Auburn University athletics supporter and Atlanta Braves fan.
When Michael is not at the office, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
